Biological Activity
AdipoR agonist Med (Medicarpin sodium salt) is water-soluble sodium salt of Medicarpin with anticancer activity, is a dual agonist of AdipoR1 and AdipoR2, activates AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 with EC50 values of 160 and 302 pM, respectively.
AdipoR agonist Med stimulated canonical adiponectin signalling pathways, including AMPK, AKT and p38 MAPK.
AdipoR agonist Med significantly induced expression of typical adiponectin targets, PGC-1α, PPARα, Glut4 and UCP3.
AdipoR agonist Med enhanced myogenic differentiation, evidenced by increasing myotube formation and expression of MyoD, myogenin and MyHC.
AdipoR agonist Med also enhanced oxidative capacity by increasing fatty acid oxidation and Med-treated cells showed elevated oxidative fibre markers.
AdipoR agonist Med significantly attenuated muscle atrophy in rodent models of skeletal muscle atrophy.
