Biological Activity
Bio-AMS is a potent bacterial biotin protein ligase (BPL) inhibitor, possesses selective activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and inhibits fatty acid and lipid biosynthesis.
In biotin-free medium, the BPL inhibitor Bio-AMS was bactericidal at a concentration of 5 µM.
Bio-AMS inhibited growth of Mtb in a concentration-dependent manner in Mtb-infected mouse macrophages in vitro.
Bio-AMS enhances the activity of rifampicin and ethambutol in vitro. can prevent growth of both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant Mtb in vitro.
