Bragsin1 (Bragsin 1) is a specific inhibitor of the ArfGEF BRAG2, affects the trans-Golgi network in a BRAG2- and Arf-dependent manner in cells (IC50=3 uM).
Bragsin1 binds at the interface between the PH domain of BRAG2 and the lipid bilayer to render BRAG2 unable to activate lipidated Arf, requires membranes for specific inhibition of BRAG2.
Bragsin1 affects tumorsphere formation in breast cancer cell lines.
Bragsin1 and Bragsin 2 are novel compounds that function by altering protein-membrane interactions without disruption.
