CRE-14 is a specific, high affinity inhibitor of fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) with Kd of 654 nM in MST assays, impairs coronavirus replication.
CRE-14 blocks FABP4's ability to bind its lipid ligand (BODIPY FL C12) in TR-FRET assays.
CRE-14 reduces SARS-CoV-2 virus nucleocapsid protein levels, reduces virus titers and disrupts replication organelles formation in adipocytes.
CRE-14 (5-10 uM) reduces viral titers across various SARS-CoV-2 variants in HBE cells.
CRE-14 (15 mg/kg, s.c.) significantly ameliorated the infection-associated weight loss and reduced lung viral titers in infected hamsters.
