Biological Activity

Calcitriol (1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3) is a hormonally active metabolite of vitamin D that binds to vitamin D receptor (VDR).
Calcitriol (1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3) increases the level of calcium (Ca2+) in the blood by increasing the uptake of calcium from the gut into the blood, increasing reabsorption of calcium by the kidneys.
