Cryptotanshinone (CP1, Cryptotanshinon) is a potent STAT3 inhibitor with IC50 of 4.6 uM, inhibits STAT3 Tyr705 phosphorylation in DU145 prostate cancer cells through blocking the dimerization of STAT3.
Cryptotanshinone (CP1, Cryptotanshinon) is a potent STAT3 inhibitor with IC50 of 4.6 uM, inhibits STAT3 Tyr705 phosphorylation in DU145 prostate cancer cells through blocking the dimerization of STAT3. Cryptotanshinone binds to the SH2 domain of STAT3. Cryptotanshinone binds to STAT3 monomer and inhibits the dimerization of STAT3. Cryptotanshinone sensitively inhibits prostate cancer cells harboring constitutively activated STAT3. Cryptotanshinone selectively suppresses STAT3 Tyr705 phosphorylation but not through inhibition of upstream tyrosine kinases. Cryptotanshinone down-regulates the expression of cyclin D1, Bcl-xL, and survivin, and causes the accumulation of cells in G0-G1.
