Dalbavancin (MDL-63397, BI-397) is a novel second-generation lipoglycopeptide antibiotic with MIC90 values of 0.06 μg/mL and 0.25 μg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis, respectively.
Dalbavancin exerts its bactericidal effect by disrupting cell wall biosynthesis.
Dalbavancin exhibits potent in vitro bactericidal activity against gram-positive pathogens including S. aureus (MRSA), VISA, and non-VanA strains of VRE.
