Biological Activity

Deoxygedunin is a naturally occurring tetranortriterpenoid that has been found to act as a potent, selective, small-molecule agonist of TrkB with Kd of 1.4 uM.
Deoxygedunin activates TrkB in mouse brain in a BDNF-independent way.
Deoxygedunin prevents the degeneration of vestibular ganglion in BDNF -/- pups, and produces TrkB-dependent neurotrophic and neuroprotective effects in mice and enhances learning processes.
