Didemethylclomipramine (Norclomipramine, N-Desmethylcomipramine) is the major active metabolite of the tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) clomipramine.
Didemethylclomipramine shows growth inhibition of both Mycobacterium smegmatis and M. tuberculosis cells via inhibition of Mycobacterium tuberculosis topoisomerase I (MttopoI), inhibits DNA relaxation activity of MttopoI.
Didemethylclomipramine shows MIC vales of 30 μM and 60 μM for M. smegmatis and M. tuberculosis, respectively.
