Dynasore is a specific, cell-permeable inhibitor of dynamin GTPase function, acts as a potent inhibitor of endocytic pathways known to depend on dynamin by rapidly blocking coated vesicle formation.
Dynasore interferes in vitro with the GTPase activity of dynamin1, dynamin2, and Drp1, the mitochondrial dynamin, but not of other small GTPases.
Dynasore inhibits the GTPase activity of full-length dynamin1 or dynamin2 ΔPRD stimulated by self-association in a dose-dependent manner with IC50 of 15 uM.
Dynasore blocks clathrin-mediated endocytosis in nonneuronal cells, reversibly blocks endocytosis in hippocampal synapses.
Dynasore has no immediate effect on exocytosis.
