Epolactaene is a neuritogenic fungal isolate that arrests the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase and induces the outgrowth of neurites in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells.
Epolactaene inhibits DNA topoisomerase II (topo II), binds to Hsp60 Cys442 resulting in the inhibition of chaperone activity.
Epolactaene also reacts with N-acetylcysteine methyl ester and induces the disulfide formation.
