Biological Activity
FB231 is a small molecule enhancer / activator of Parkin E3 ubiquitin ligase (PARK2) activity with EC50 of 6.75 uM in in vitro ubiquitination assay.
FB231 potently activates the PINK1/Parkin pathway in combination with mitochondrial toxins.
FB231 could accentuate PINK1/Parkin mitophagy in cells exposed to low levels of mitochondrial toxins.
FB231 induces mild mitochondrial stress, resulting in impaired mitochondrial function and activation of the integrated stress response, effects that result from PINK1/Parkin-independent off-target activities.
