FFN200 dihydrochloride is a vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) substrate, and the first probe to selectively trace monoamine exocytosis in both neuronal cell culture and brain tissue.
FFN200 selectively labels striatal dopamine axons. exhibited a Km of 13.7 uM in VMAT2-transfected HEK cells was inhibited by tetrabenazine (TBZ).
The fluorescence excitation and emission maxima of FFN200 were determined to be 352 and 451 nm.
FFN200 accumulation in striatal axons depends on VMAT2.
FFN200 provides monitoring of individual bouton exocytosis.
FFN200 is the first fluorescent false neurotransmitter (FFN) to label dopaminergic neurons both in culture and in the acute brain slice.
