GIV3727 is a novel potent bitter receptor (TAS2Rs) antagonist that inhibits activation of hTAS2R31 by saccharin and acesulfame K with IC50 of 6.4 and 7.9 uM respectively.
GIV3727 also similarly inhibits hTAS2R43 activated by saccharin and acesulfame K, and inhibits multiple hTAS2Rs (19/25), including hTAS2R31 and 43.
GIV3727 decreases bitter taste intensity in humans, specifically affects only bitter taste perception.
GIV3727 is a useful chemical probe to examine the precise contributions of bitter receptor signaling in non-gustatory systems.
