HIOC is a selective TrkB agonist, elicits prominent TrkB activation at 500 nM, which is comparable to BDNF, potently protects retinas from light-induced retinal degeneration (LIRD).
HIOC activates TrkB receptor and its downstream Erk1/2 in a time-dependent manner.
HIOC selectively and potently activates TrkB receptor and its downstream effector Akt in neurons.
HIOC can penetrate the BBB and selectively activate TrkB.
HIOC exerts its neuroprotective actions via TrkB receptor, mitigates retinal damage induced by bright light and exerts strong effect in promoting TrkB activation in mouse brain and retinas.
