Biological Activity

Hederagenin is a triterpenoid saponin with antitumor activity against multifarious cancers, is a selective antagonist of neuropeptide FF receptor 1 (NPFFR1), selectively inhibits activation of NPFFR1 by NPFF or NPVF through orthosteric antagonism.
Hederagenin inhibits the expression of iNOS, COX-2, and NF-κB in cells induced by LPS stimulation.
Hederagenin increases ROS production in cancer cells, disrupts mitochondrial membrane potential, and induces apoptosis.
Hederagenin inhibits mitochondrial damage in Parkinson's disease via mitophagy induction.
