JVW-1034 is a selective small molecule modulator of σ2R/Tmem97 with Ki of 23 nM, 10-fold weaker affinity for σ1R (Ki=248 nM).
JVW-1034 reduces alcohol withdrawal behavior via an ortholog of σ2R/TMEM97.
JVW-1034 significantly reduces excessive alcohol drinking selectively in alcohol-dependent rats, without affecting alcohol drinking in non-dependent rats.
