NBQX is a potent, selective and competitive AMPA receptor (AMPAR) antagonist with IC50 of 0.15 uM.
NBQX binds to the quisqualate subtype of the glutamate receptor, with no activity at the NMDA and glycine sites.
NBQX also blocks kainate receptor with IC50 of 4.8 uM.
NBQX exhibits anticonvulsant activity in rodent seizure models.
