Niraxostat (Y-700) is a potent, long-lasting, orally effective xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor with IC50 of 5.8 nM, exhibits potent and long-lasting hypouricemic effect in rat model of hyperuricemia.
Niraxostat (Y-700) binds tightly both to the active sulfo-form and to the inactive desulfo-form of the enzyme with K(d) values of 0.9 and 2.8 nM, respectively.
Y-700 (1-10 mg/kg, oral) dose dependently lowered plasma urate levels in oxonate-treated rats.
Y-700 (0.3-3 mg/kg) dose dependently reduced the urinary excretion of urate and allantoin in normal rats.
