OR486 (3,5-Dinitrocatechol, OR-486) is a potent, selective catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor with IC50 of 12 nM.
OR486 does not inhibit tyrosine hydroxylase, dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, dopa-decarboxylase and monoamine oxidase forms A and B.
OR486 is more effective in reducing the formation of 3-O-methyldopa from levodopa than was the levodopa-carbidopa treatment alone.
