Biological Activity
Org OD 02-0 (10-ethenyl-19-norprogesterone) is a potent, selective membrane progesterone receptor alpha (mPRα) agonist with binding IC50 of 33.9 nM, mimicks the stimulatory actions of the endogenous progestin.
Org OD 02-0 significantly decreases cell death and apoptosis in response to serum starvation in breast cancer cells.
Org OD 02-0 shows high binding affinity for the progesterone receptor on HUVEC membranes, whereas nuclear PR (nPR) agonists R5020 and medroxyprogesterone acetate displays low binding affinities.
Org OD 02-0 (20 nM) also significantly increased endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) activity and eNOS phosphorylation in HUVECs.
