Polyoxyethylene stearate (PS40) is a non-ionic emulsifying agent that can modulate multidrug resistance and enhances antitumor activity of vinblastine sulfate by modulating substrate-stimulated P-gp ATPase activity.
Polyoxyethylene stearate inhibits P-gp mediated efflux in a concentration-dependent manner in Caco-2 cells.
Polyoxyethylene stearate also shows potential inhibitory activitites agasint CYP2C9 and CYP2C19.
