Biological Activity

Pym-18a is a pyrimidine derivative inducer of autophagy and mitophagy, inhibits ROS generation and prevents apoptosis in Dexamethasone (Dex)-treated osteoblast cells, exhibits osteogenic effect by enhancing the autophagy and PINK1/Parkin mediated mitophagy.
Pym-18a ameliorates Dex-induced alteration in osteoblast cell differentiation, viability and mineralization.
Pym-18a protects the osteoblast cells from Dex-induced apoptosis.
Pym-18a suppresses Dex-induced intracellular and mitochondrial ROS generation in osteoblast cells.
Pym-18a attenuates the inhibitory effect of Dex on osteoblast autophagy and mitophagy.
Pym-18a inhibited mTOR protein and prevented the Dex-induced phosphorylation of mTOR.
Pym-18a prevents the Dex-induced bone loss and increased the bone strength in GIOP mice.
Pym-18a modulates autophagy and mitophagy, inhibits mTOR phosphorylation, and protects against apoptosis in glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) mice.
