Ro 61-8048 is a potent, orally active Kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO) inhibitor with IC50 of 37 nM; effectively blocks rat and gerbil kynurenine 3-hydroxylase after oral administration, with ED50 of 3-5 uM/kg range in gerbil brain, reduce ischemic brain damage in models of focal or global brain ischemia; also improves dystonia in a genetic model of paroxysmal dyskinesia.
