SB204990 is the cell-penetrant, orally active gamma-lactone prodrug of the potent ATP citrate-lyase (ACLY) inhibitor SB-201076.
SB204990 inhibits cholesterol and fatty acid synthesis in HepG2 cells and reduces plasma triglyceride levels in vivo.
SB204990 induces clear hypocholesterolemic and hypotriglyceridaemic responses in rats.
