SR9883 is a potent, selective and brain-penetrant enhanceer of α4β2* nAChRs with EC50 of 0.2-0.4 uM, shows no activity against α3β2* or α3β4* nAChRs.
SR9883 shows EC50 of 0.2-0.4 uM for markedly enhancing the response on HEK cells stably expressing (α4)2(β2)2β2/α4 (α4β2*), (α4)2(β2)2α5, or (α4)2(β2)2β3 nAChRs.
SR9883 (0, 5, or 10 mg/ kg) enhances the locomotor-suppressant effects of nicotine in mice.
SR9883 enhances the reward-inhibiting effects of nicotine in mice, decreases nicotine intake in rats.
