Sudapyridine (WX-081) is a potential new antituberculosis compound,excellent antimicrobial in vitro activity against both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant M. tuberculosis clinical isolates with MICs of 0.117 to 0.219 ug/mL.
WX-081 demonstrates similar or minor weakness in vitro activity against TB drug-resistant clinical isolates of M. tuberculosis, including isoniazid, rifampin, streptomycin, ethambutol, and moxifloxacin.
WX-081 retaines activity against MDR-TB strains at <1 ug/mL.
WX-081 has good in vitro activity against clinically isolated strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, including sensitive strains and drug-resistant strains.
WX-081 demonstrates vivo efficacy in the acute mouse infection model at at 10 mg/kg.
