Sulconazole is an imidazole derivative broad-spectrum fungicide with activity against dermatophytes and yeasts, and some gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, S epidermidis, and Streptococcus faecalis, inhibits the enzyme 14 demethylase, impairing the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is essential for fungal cell wall synthesis.
