TSWV inhibitor Z9 is a small molecule inhibitor of tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) nucleocapsid protein (N), targets N protein (KD=7.6 uM) to inhibit the replication level of the viral ribonucleoprotein (RNP).
Z9 is a compound with broad-spectrum antiviral activity against plant viruses. decreases N protein condensation in plant cells.
Z9 significantly disrupts the formation of inclusion bodies (IBs).
Z9 is capable of interacting with the amino acids in the nucleic acid binding region of TSWV N, disrupting the assembly of N and RNA into phase-separated condensates, the reduction of which is detrimental to the stability of the N protein.
