Urantide is a potent, selective, peptidic urotensin-II receptor (U-II, UT receptor) antagonist, blocks hU-II-induced contractions in rat isolated thoracic aorta with pKb of 8.3.
Urantide is able to modify noradrenaline- or endothelin 1-induced contractile effects.
Urantide displaces [125I]urotensin II from specific binding at hU-II recombinant receptors (UT receptors) transfected into CHO/K1 cells with pKi of 8.3.
Urantide is a competitive, potent (pA2 8.24), and pure antagonist in the rat aorta bioassay.
Urantide mimics urotensin-II induced calcium release in cells expressing recombinant UT receptors.
