YM543 is a potent, selective and orally active SGLT2 inhibitor with IC50 of 8.9 nM, 280-fold selectivity over SGLT1.
YM543 dose-dependently and significantly reduces blood glucose levels and improves glucose tolerance with a concomitant increase in urinary glucose excretion.
YM543 also significantly reduces hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetic mice.
