A selective, orally bioactive and brain permeable δ-secretase (AEP; delta-secretase) inhibitor with IC50 of 700 nM; displays 45-fold selectivity over caspases-3, and >100-fold over caspase-8, cathepsin-S and L; has IC50 of 800 nM in Pala cells, reduces tau and APP cleavage, ameliorates synapse loss and augments long-term potentiation, resulting in protection of memory in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease.
