6-thio-dG (NSC 71261) causes rapid cell death for the vast majority of the cancer cell lines (IC50=0.7-2.9 uM), without effect on normal human fibroblasts and human colonic epithelial cells.
6-thio-dG (NSC 71261) decreases tumor growth rate superior to 6-thioguanine in A549 lung cancer models, increases telomere dysfunction in tumor cells in vivo.
