Biological Activity
BKI-1748 a small molecule bumped kinase inhibitor targeting calcium dependent protein kinase 1 (CDPK1), inhibits TgCDPK1 and NcCDPK1 enzyme activities at low nM-concentrations, inhibits proliferation of apicomplexan parasites with EC50 of 165 nM for N. caninum and 43 nM for T. gondii.
BKI-1748 exhibits efficacy against acute and chronic T. gondii infection with RH- and Prugniaud-strains, respectively.
BKI-1748 shows synergistic and additive effects against Neospora caninum infection in vitro and in vivo when combined with ELQ-316.
BKI-1748 exhibits a good efficacy against Toxoplasma gondii infection in vitro and in mouse models.
