Bigelovin is a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from Inula hupehensis I and selective RXR agonist (EC50=4.9 uM), binds to RXRα-LBD with Kd of 8.7 uM.
Bigelovin exerts inhibitory effects and triggers proteolysis of E2F1 in multiple myeloma cells.
Bigelovin inhibits STAT3 signaling by inactivating JAK2 and induces apoptosis in human cancer cells.
Bigelovin triggered apoptosis in colorectal cancer in vitro and in vivo via upregulating death receptor 5 and reactive oxidative species.
Bigelovin efficiently inhibit a panel of cancer cells growth, including A549 (lung cancer), SGC-7901 (gastric cancer), BEL-7402 (liver cancer), U251 (glioma), B16 (murine melanoma), K562 (leukemia), and U937 (leukemia).
