Camostat is a trypsin-like protease inhibitor, also is a TMPRSS2 inhibitor, inhibits SARS-CoV-2 infection. Camostat is a potent (IC(50) approximately 50 nM) and prolonged attenuation of ENaC function in human airway epithelial cell models. Camostat reduces pancreatic fibrosis induced by repeated administration of superoxide dismutase inhibitors in rats, and decreases the proliferation and activation of pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs).
