Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) is a human mitochondrial enzyme that is known to play a key role in purine and thymidine syntheses by generating one-carbon (1C) units from serine.
MTHFD2 mRNA and protein are significantly increased in various types of tumors and that patients with high levels of MTHFD2 show a poor prognosis.
