EGCG (Epigallocatechin-3-gallate) is a major polyphenol in green tea, which can inhibit cell proliferation and induce cell apoptosis, inhibits glutamate dehydrogenase 1/2 (GDH1/2, GLUD1/2) activity.
EGCG reduces D-2-HG production in HCT116-IDH1 wt/R132H cells, decreases proliferation rates of IDH1 mut cells and at high doses sensitized cancer cells to ionizing radiation.
EGCG has a potent anticancer, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties against various types of cancers such as colorectal cancer, myeloid leukemia, thyroid carcinoma.
