Eflornithine hydrochloride hydrate (DFMO, MDL71782, RMI71782, α-difluoromethylornithine) is an irreversible inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), inhibits polyamine biosynthesis.
DFMO displays antiapoptotic, antiangiogenic and antiparasitic activity, synergistically reduces cell viability in NB cells when combined with AMXT-1501, reduces tumor progression and prolongs survival in mouse models of neuroblastoma combined with DFMO.
