    Biological Activity

Epeleuton is an orally administered, second-generation ω-3 fatty acid derivative of C20:5 n-3 EPA, protects against cellular stress associated with SCD and supports early initiation of the resolution phase of inflammation.
Epeleuton has protective effects against inflammatory vasculopathy and markers of systemic inflammation, suggesting its possible transferability to SCD.
Epeleuton significantly increased organ concentrations of 15-HEPE, which has both anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving functions.
Epeleuton reduces circulating neutrophils and promotes a pro-resolving lipidomic profile in lung and liver of mice with sickle cell disease.
Epeleuton promotes a pro-resolving profile in target organs and prevents the activation of the NF-kB pathway in mice with sickle cell disease.
