FK614 (FK 614) is a non-thiazolidinedione (TZD), orally active PPARγ agonist.
FK614 shows a potent attenuating effect on hypertriglyceridemia in db/db mice.
In C57BL/6J-ob/ob mice (ob/ob mice), ED50 value of FK614 for hypoinsulinemic effect was 1.3 mg/kg.
FK614 improves peripheral glucose utilization because of an improvement in peripheral insulin sensitivity and a decrease in insulin clearance, but impairs hepatic insulin action in alloxan-induced diabetic dogs.
