Biological Activity
Fexlamose (AER-01, MUC-031) is a potent and fast-acting mucolytic compound, cleaves disulfides to cause mucolysis, shows potential for muco-obstructive lung diseases like COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and asthma.
Fexlamose (AER-01, MUC-031) is a thiol-modified carbohydrate designed to break down mucus plugs in the airways.
Fexlamose (AER-01, MUC-031) decreases airway mucus plugging, lessens airway inflammation and improves survival in βENaC-Tg mice.
MUC-031 is a more potent and faster acting mucolytic than N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and recombinant human deoxyribonuclease I (rhDNase).
