Fluoromethylcholine (FMC) is a highly potent TMA Lyase inhibitor in Escherichia coli (IC50= 0.9 nM against Proteus mirabilis CutC/D) and in a polymicrobial human fecal culture (IC50 = 7.9 nM).
Fluoromethylcholine (FMC) has been shown to be highly effective in vivo and completely inhibited plasma TMAO production in mice on a choline diet from a single oral dose (100 mg/kg).
Fluoromethylcholine (FMC) is also shown to be efficacious in an in vivo murine model of thrombus formation.
