Biological Activity
Foldlin is a small-molecule tool compound that reduces the protein levels of misfolded/aggregated mutant p53, without effect on contact mutants or wild-type p53, Foldlin is small-molecule HSF-1 activator.
Foldlin prevents the formation of stress-induced p53 nuclear inclusion bodies.
Foldlin is able to induce a broad-spectrum heat shock response in the Saos2 osteosarcoma cell line, increases the mRNA and protein expression of HSP70.
Foldlin induces HSF-1-dependent chaperone expression and restore protein folding in multiple conformational disease models.
Foldlin also reduces protein levels of aggregating SOD1 variants.
