Lurasidone (SM-13496) is an atypical antipsychotic compound with potent dopamine D2 (Ki =1.68 nM) and serotonin 5-HT2A (Ki=2.03 nM) receptor-blocking activities.
Lurasidone (SM-13496) also has high affinities for serotonin 5-HT1A (Ki = 6.75 nM), 5-HT7 receptors (Ki = 0.495 nM), and α2C adrenoceptor (Ki = 10.8 nM), but only weak or negligible interactions with serotonin 5-HT2C, histamine H1, acetylcholine M1 receptors, and α1 adrenoceptor.
Lurasidone (SM-13496) significantly and dose-dependently reversed the MK-801-induced impairment of the passive-avoidance response.
Lurasidone (SM-13496) is superior to other antipsychotics in improving the MK-801-induced memory impairment.
