Biological Activity

M50054 (M 50054) is a small molecule inhibitor of apoptosis (programmed cell death), inhibits soluble human Fas ligand-induced cell death of human Fasexpressing WC8 cells with IC50 of 67 ug/mL.
M50054 inhibits etoposide-induced cell death of U937 cells with IC50 of 130 ug/mL.
M50054 inhibits DNA fragmentation of U937 cells induced by etoposide in a dose-dependent manner (IC50=54ug/mL), also inhibits DNA fragmentation of WC8 cells induced by soluble human Fas ligand, inhibits cell death via inhibition of DNA fragmentation and phosphatidylserine exposure.
M50054 protects against apoptotic cell death via inhibition of caspase-3 activation.
M50054 (100 mg/kg, oral) inhibited the elevation of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in a dose-dependent manner in anti-Fas-antibody-treated mice, significantly improved alopecia (hair loss) symptoms in chemotherapy-induced alopecia in newborn rats.
