ML239 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of breast cancer stem cells (CSCs) with IC50 of 1.18 uM, displays >23-fold selective inhibition of the breast CSC-like cell line over the isogenic control cell line.
ML239 alters the expression of genes in the MAPK, NF-κB, and inflammatory cytokine pathways.
ML239 most likely acts through activation of fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2).
