Methyl Gerfelin (M-GFN) is an osteoclastogenesis inhibitor (IC50=2.8 uM) through the competitive inhibition of glyoxalase I (GLO1) with Ki of 0.23 uM.
Methyl Gerfelin inhibits osteoclast differentiation, suppresses osteoclastogenesis with no influence on the phagocytic ability of BMMs.
Methyl Gerfelin significantly increases intracellular methylglyoxal (MG) levels in BMMs.
Methyl Gerfelin also inhibits P. falciparum GLO1.
