Methyl Gerfelin (M-GFN) is an osteoclastogenesis inhibitor (IC50=2.8 uM) through the competitive inhibition of glyoxalase I (GLO1) with Ki of 0.23 uM; inhibits osteoclast differentiation, suppresses osteoclastogenesis with no influence on the phagocytic ability of BMMs; significantly increases intracellular methylglyoxal (MG) levels in BMMs; also inhibits P. falciparum GLO1.
