Morncide (Morn3 (222-237)) is a cell-penetrating, 16-AA Morn3-targeting peptide that disrupts the interaction between p53 and Morn3-mediated complex, Morncide peptide stabilizes and reactivates p53 in cancer cells.
Morncide (CPP-Morn3 (222-237)) efficiently increases p53 expression and acetylation, causing substantial decrease in p53 ubiquitination in cultured CRC cells, displays dose-dependent upregulation of CDKN1A, BAX, and NOXA.
Morncide increases p53 expression and acetylation, causing significant induction of p21 expression in tumor tissue, decreases tumor growth in mice carrying HCT116 (wild-type p53) xenograft tumors.
The Morn3 gene encodes a MORN (membrane occupation and recognition nexus) repeats-containing protein that is 240 amino acids in length.
Morn3 is a cancer/testis antigen with oncogenic functions, assembles a protein complex to regulate composite modifications of p53.
