NAPQI (N-Acetylimidoquinone) is a toxic byproduct, iminoquinone metabolite of acetaminophen that covalently binds to the active site of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF).
NAPQI inhibits both the isomerase and the biological activities of MIF with IC50 of 40 uM.
NAPQI significantly inhibits the ability of MIF to override the immunosuppressive effect of dexamethasone on endotoxin- (LPS) stimulated TNFα production by monocytes.
